Kevin Blackwell leaves Sheffield United

0

Kevin Blackwell has parted company with Sheffield United just two league games in to the new season following the sides 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Queens Park Rangers. A statement from the club said the decision was made via mutual consent but it is believed that following chants of ‘Blackwell out’ throughout the game after going three goals down after just twenty that the likelihood is that the decision wasn’t a difficult one for either party to make.

Blackwell has been in charge at Bramall Lane since February 2008 and guided the Blades to the Championship play-off final in 2009. However, a disappointing season last term followed by a draw and two defeats to open the current campaign, including a 2-0 cup loss at Hartlepool left the United fans feeling the need to make their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs known.

The search will now begin for a replacement to take over at Sheffield United with usual suspects already being  linked to the vacancy including current Coach, Gary Speed,  Iain Dowie, Chris Coleman and Gareth Southgate.
