Eriksson and Bradley Featuring In Next Aston Villa Manager Odds
Following the shock resignation of Martin O’Neill as Aston Villa Manager yesterday, a number of high profile names have been linked with the job as the betting frenzy kicks into gear with Villa sure to want to act quickly with the Premier League season only days away. At this stage there are of course any number of Managers in the frame but the bookmakers have been focusing on two names in particular with Bob Bradley and Sven Goran Eriksson being well backed. Bradley is the current Manager of the US National team, and with Villa Chairman Randy Lerner at the helm there is an obvious American link between the two which could see him arrive in Birmingham in the near future.
Bradley has done a good job with the US National team and has made it clear he would relish a chance to manage in Europe making him a prime candidate in the Next Aston Villa Manager Odds, the worry here for Villa fans is his lack of experience in a major league and that may well count against him. Sven Goran Eriksson has made it clear he is desperate for a return to the Premier League and he is being well linked with Villa Park, the former England Manager offers an alternative to Bradley with his vast experience across the major European Leagues meaning he is used to be in a pressure cooker environment.
Eriksson though is unlikely to be a popular choice with the Villa fans after his mixed career in recent times meaning there could well be some good value on offer here further down the market, Billy Davies of Notts Forest could be one to watch here and can be backed at an attractive price at the moment with Bet365.com. Davies has built himself up a fantastic reputation at Derby and now Forest in recent times and would no doubt jump at the chance of a return to the Premier League with a club like Villa.
Randy Lerner has always been considered an excellent chairman at Villa but he now faces his toughest challenge, he will need to find the right man to replace O’Neill who clearly though he had had taken the club as far as he could before resigning. The timing of the resignation could not have been worse with the new season set to get underway this weekend, any new Manager will want to be installed as quick as possible with the transfer window shutting at the end of the month and the squad needing to be strengthened.
