Following the sacking of Kevin Blackwell on Saturday evening it is now looking likely that the Blades will make a quickfire appointment by installing Gary Speed as the new Manager, Speed has been at the club in a coaching capacity for some time now and has made no secret of his desire to make his move into Management as soon as possible. The Blades have endured a tough start to the season and it is understood that Speed has been identified as the man to steady the ship just two games into the Championship season. The former Everton and Leeds player has vast experience in the game as a player, he is sure to get the respect from the dressing room at Bramall Lane which is something that Kevin Blackwell had lost in recent weeks.

The Blades produced an awful display on Saturday against QPR which led to the sacking of Kevin Blackwell and Speed will have a tough task on his hands to pick up the players if he is the man to get the job.
