Gianfranco Zola Sack Odds Shorten After Takeover
Gianfranco Zola is coming under increasing pressure today as the takeover of West Ham has finally been completed, the long running saga at Upton Park has finally come to an end with former Birmingham Owners David Gold and David Sullivan taking control of the Hammers. Sullivan and Gold have acquired a 50% shareholding in the club with Karen Brady expected to take a Vice-Chairman position at the club, a takeover of any club causes speculation for the Manager and Zola will be no different as he waits to hear the plans of the new owners. As a result of the takeover the Next Premier League Manager to be Sacked Odds on Zola have been slashed, he is now the favourite with VC Bet to be the next Gaffer for the high jump.
The Sack Race understands that Gold and Sullivan are likely to back Zola for the time being which will be good news for the Italian, he will be under pressure to start picking up results quickly however as Gold and Sullivan will be itching to get their own man in given half the chance. Lotus F1 Boss Tony Fernandes was in the drivers seat to takeover the club which could well have spelt the end for Zola who has proved popular with the Hammers fans despite results not picking up in recent weeks.
West Ham have three pivotal games coming up against Portsmouth, Blackburn and Wolves who are all teams around them at the bottom of the table and they could go a long way to deciding the future of the little Italian, the last thing the new owners want to see is the club getting sucked into a relegation battle. Zola may even be hoping to add to the squad during the remainder of the transfer window as he has spent the last year cost cutting, there have been rumours that West Ham will struggle to hold onto the likes of Upson and Cole but the arrival of new owners should put an end to that speculation.
