Sven Looking For New Job After Notts County Exit

0

Sven Goran Eriksson has left his job at Notts County after the club were taken over yesterday meaning that the former England Coach is back on the market and eyeing up a job at this Summers World Cup in South Africa, Eriksson has been in his role as Director of Football at Meadow Lane since the start of the season but with a new owner on board he has decided to call it quits at the League Two club. County have been taken over by the former Lincoln Owner Ray Trew for the princely sum of £1 from Peter Trembling who had been a strong ally of the Swede, Trew knows he will have to clear the clubs spiralling debt as part of the deal which runs into millions of pounds.

While Sven has agreed to take a non-active role as joint life President at Notts County he is now free to resume his Managerial career and will not be short of options, within hours of his departure from County he was already being linked to the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are looking for a new Manager following a poor African Cup of Nations. Several names are being linked with this post besides Sven and they include the likes of Guus Hiddink and Giovani Trapattoni but the Eriksson link seems to have the most substance at this stage, the Swede led England to two World Cup Quarter-Finals in 2002 and 2006 and may want another crack at the worlds biggest tournament this Summer.

As well as Nigeria there are some reports surfacing that North Korea may be looking for a high profile Manager to lead them at their first World Cup since 1966 and Sven is the man they want, it seems an unlikely job for such a big name but if the price is right then it should not be ruled out at this stage. There has to be some doubt as to whether Eriksson will be looking to go back into International Management having already had stints with England and Mexico, the Sack Race understands that the Swede is itching to get back involved in club football and more specifically the Premier League if he is given half a chance.

All the Premier League clubs and Managers will be aware of Sven who is now lurking dangerously in the background waiting to get on the merry-go-round once more, several sides are struggling at the bottom of the table with the likes of Sunderland, West Ham and Blackburn among others all likely to be getting twitchy about their league position. Eriksson is bound to want to get back in a Management role after his ill fated Director of Football role with County, Sven took the job in League Two when Munto Finance took over with visions of the Premier league but the dream quickly turned sour with the club amassing huge debts and are now on their third owner this season.
