After weeks of intense speculation Andre Villas-Boas was sacked by Chelsea on 4th March 2012. The Portguese coach only joined from Porto in June 2011 but endured a difficult time at Stamford Bridge, with poor results and player unrest key to his downfall.
AVB is currently one of the favourites in the Next Liverpool Manager Betting.
For a young manager with releative inexperience, Villas-Boas has been very successful in his managerial career so far. The 33-year-old gained valuable experience under Jose Mourinho, who he has worked with at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan.
His first job in management came in the summer of 2009 when he took charge of the Portuguese club Academica. He impressed in his managerial debut by taking the seemingly doomed club from rock-bottom of the league and winless, to an 11th place finish and through to the semi-finals of the Portuguese League Cup.
His work at Academica didn't go unnoticed and Porto came calling in June 2010. In his first season at the club he won the treble; Premeira Liga, Taca de Portugal and the Europa League. He became the third youngest coach to win the Primeira Liga, a feat he achieved undefeated and with five games to spare.
Villas-Boas will now be looking to re-build his reputation. He is a young and hugely talented manager and will not be short of offers.
