Claude Puel was the manager of Southampton, replacing Ronald Koeman in June 2016 after signing a three-year deal. The Frenchman arrived on the south coast on England following spells at Nice, Lyon, Lille, and Monaco.
During a 17 year managerial career Puel has hoisted the French title with Monaco, led Lyon to the Champions League semi-finals, and steered Nice to their highest finish since 1976 (4th).
Puel has a reputation fo developing and promoting young players, and employing high-pressing and attacking football, while his European experience will be crucial as the Saints prepare for their Europa League campaign.
Southampton were taken to another level by Ronald Koeman and now Claude Puel will be looking to continue the progress. The Saints will be expected to challenge for another top-8 finish and make waves in Europe.
