Gianfranco is the manager of Watford after replacing the sacked Sean Dyche in July. The Italian had been out of the manager loop since he was sacked by West Ham in May 2010 but is now back in the dugout and aiming to make an impact at the Hornets.
Zola impressed in his first role as assistant manager of the Italy Under-21 team, who he helped guide to the quarter-finals of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
In September 2008 the Italian was the surprise replacement for the sacked Alan Curbishley at West Ham. In his first season in football management he took The Hammers to an impressive 9th place finish in the Premier League. However, the following season they could only finish 17th and as a result he was sacked in May 2010. During his time at West Ham Zola was credited with giving the youngsters at the club a chance to shine in the first team.
Zola will start the 2012/13 campaign under pressure from a few of the Watford fans due to the controversial exit of former manager Sean Dyche. The club's new owner, Pozza, will hand Zola the transfer funds he needs to make sure Watford can be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
