Manager Profile

Jose Riga returned to Charlton in January, signing an 18-month contract with Charlton, with whom he previously saved from relegation down to League One in 2014.

Early on in his managerial career Riga had various spells in his homeland, Belgium, with the likes of CS Vise, RAEC Mons, Standard Liege, before coming to England in 2014 with Charlton. The Belgian spent 16 days in charge of the Addicks, savin the club from dropping out of the Championship.

Riga then spent a tumultuous 15 matches at cash-strapped Blackpool, winning just one game, as he became the club's second shortest-serving manager in their history. Riga returned to Standard Liege, then Metz, before he surprisingly took charge of Charlton once again in January 2016.

Jose Riga Quotes

I have been at different clubs and I will be at other ones in the future, but Charlton will be with me forever.

It (Blackpool) is not the most amazing stadium, not the sexiest place, but I met so many good people at that club.

In the morning it was even worse, we only had nine players qualified. During the day we managed to get more. There were two 17-year-olds on the bench who were scholars.

The Sack Race's Opinion

Jose Riga hasn't spent more than 23 games at any of his last four spells in the managerial arena, and should Charlton be relegated in the summer he's likely to move on once again.
