Owen Coyle was recently sacked by Bolton Wanderers after enduring a poor start to the new season. However, the Scot could be in-line for an instant return to the dugout as he is one of the favourites to become the Next Blackpool Manager.
Coyle had a successful playing career as a striker with the likes of Bolton Wanderers, Motherwell and Airdrie among many others. He scoring goals almost everywhere he played as well as representing the Republic of Ireland on one occasion in 1994. Coyle had his first full time coaching appointment at St Johnstone in 2005 and he quickly led the team back to the SPL winning promotion as well as performing well in the cup competitions.
His impressive work at The Saints brought him to the attention of a number of clubs in England and he duly jumped at the chance to head south of the border to test his skills in the Championship with Burnley. He brought unexpected success to the Clarets in his first full season in charge by leading them to a play-off final win over Reading as the won promotion to the Premier League.
In January 2010 Coyle left Burnley to join fellow top flight side Bolton, much to the anger of Burnley supporters. He managed to keep the club in the Premier League with a 14th place finish, while Burnley got relegated. Bolton also finished 14th last season in Coyle's first full season in charge.
