Sven Goran Eriksson is currently managerless after being sacked by Leicester City on Monday 24th October. Big things were expected at City this season after the club spent heavily in the summer transfer window. However, after an inconsistent start Sven found himself in trouble and the club's demanding owners decided enough was enough after the 3-0 thrashing at the hands of Millwall.
Sven has had a long and varied managerial career where he has been in charge of numerous teams, both club and national. He started his manager career off in Sweden with Degerfars IF and IFK Goteborg, and with the latter he won the league, cup and UEFA cup treble in his first season. His success in Sweden attracted Benfica who he joined in 1982 and won two Championships and a domestic cup during his two years.
Sven then moved to Italy where he managed Roma, who he won the Coppa Italia with, and then Fiorentina. Sven returned to former club Benfica in 1989 before coming back to Italy three years later to manage Sampdoria, winning the Coppa Italia in 1994. He then enjoyed a very successful four years with the Italian club, winning the Serie A, two Coppa Italias and a UEFA Cup amongst other trophies.
His success at Lazio led him to become the England manager in 2001. During his five years with England he guided them to quarter-finals of World Cup 2002 and 2006 and Euro 2004.
After leaving England in the summer of 2006 he went on to manage Man City, Mexico and Ivory Coast. In October 2006 he was appointed Leicester City manager and guided them to 10th in the league last season.
