Swindon Town appoint Tim Sherwood as director of footballby Jack Kitson / 10 November 2016, 13:56
Tim Sherwood has returned to the football arena, but not in the dugout, with the 47-year-old appointed as the director of football at Swindon Town.
Sherwood had been out-of-work since leaving Aston Villa one year ago. The gilet loving gaffer has since been linked with a plethora of clubs throughout the English league ladder, including championship outfit QPR - a vacancy he was yesterday (Wednesday) favourite for.
However, in a shock twist Sherwood has taken up the position of director of football at Swindon, who are reportedly in advanced talks with Red Bull concerning a potential takeover.
The Robins, who are managed by Luke Williams, are currently struggling down in 21st in League One, after registering just four wins from their opening 16 matches.
Williams will remain as head coach, but Sherwood will be running training sessions alongside him.
Meanwhile, QPR are widely expected to appoint Ian Holloway as Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's successor in the dugout.
