Aston Villa expected to appoint Steve Bruce this weekby Jack Kitson / 10 October 2016, 09:33Tweet
Aston Villa frontrunner Steve Bruce has moved a step closer to returning to the dugout with an appointment expected this week.
Bruce, who revealed a stunning new look on Sky Sports' Goals (see below), is priced at just 1/5 (Sky Bet) to replace Roberto Di Matteo after holding talks with the managerless club.
Bruce spoke fondly of Villa, describing them as "one of the big clubs of this country", and is hopeful that a deal can be concluded soon, in what would be his first job in the managerial arena since surprisingly leaving Hull on the eve of the season.
Bruce, a former boss of Villa's fierce rivals Birmingham, would join a club in desperate need of both inspiration and motivation following a terribly lacklustre start to the season under Di Matteo.
Villa, who look horns with Midlands rivals Wolves on Saturday, are currently 19th in the table with just 10 points from their opening 11 league games. The club have drawn a whopping seven of those match, while they've dropped a plethora of points from winning positions - something that desperately needs fixing.
