Jackie McNamara to leave York City

York City have confirmed that Jackie McNamara will step down from his position once a replacement is found.

McNamara's future has been in severe doubt following York's shocking start to the season.

Last week the under-fire Scot revealed that he would resign from his post should York, who were relegated last season, fail to get a positive result away to Braintree Town on Saturday.

York responded in style, taking a 5th minute lead, but just as the Conference outfit looked to be heading for a rare valuable victory, they conceded a heartbreaking 88th minute penalty, which subsequently extended their winless run to seven games.

Now today (Monday) York have stated that McNamara will leave the club in the next two weeks, with the 42-year-old still taking charge of training until a new boss is appointment.

According to Bet Victor Gary Brabin is the early 2/1 favourite in the Next York City Manager Market, followed by the likes of Mark Yates, Tony Mowbray, Shaun Reid and Adrian Pennock.
