Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard join Ryan Giggs in the betting to become the next MK Dons manager

On first glance it looks like a mini compilation of the Premier League's greatest ever midfield maestros. However, on a closer inspection it's the betting to become the Next Manager of MK Dons.

Both Frank Lampard (6/4) and Steven Gerrard (10/1) surprisingly burst into the mix for the League One post on Tuesday following their respective decisions to leave the MLS (odds by Sky Bet).

The former England players both decided to call it quits in America and are now each being hotly linked with a return to these shores, but whether that's in a playing, coaching or managing capacity (or maybe all three!) is open to debate.

The duo join another legend in Ryan Giggs (10/1) who has been hovering on the outskirts of the MK Dons market for some time.

The Welshman has been linked with a catalogue of clubs in the last couple of months, but has still yet to make his debut in the dugout, and could well miss out once again, with Steve Cotterill the favourite (albeit narrow at 5/4) to return to the dugout with the Dons.

In fact Cotterill is the only gaffer in the top echelons of the betting who has any real experience in the managerial arena, having previously taken charge of the likes of Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, Burnley and Stoke.

Lampard and Gerrard have none, Giggs has four caretaker games to his name, while another contender, Paul Mitchell (6/1), is head of recruitment at Tottenham.

It's now been just short of a month since Robinson parted ways with MK Dons, and on the basis of the betting, this one could ramble on for some time yet.
