Gary Caldwell linked with Charltonby Jack Kitson / 16 November 2016, 11:00Tweet
Gary Caldwell has become the latest boss to be linked with managerless Charlton.
The former Wigan Athletic gaffer has stormed into the mix at 11/8, behind odds-on 4/5 favourite Nigel Adkins (both odds from Sky Bet).
Caldwell lost his job at Wigan in October after 18 months at the helm. Under Caldwell the Latics won promotion to the Championship - passing Charlton on the way up - but a disappointing start to the 2016/17 season resulted in the club wielding the axe.
Charlton, rather harshly, lost patience with Russell Slade on Monday, less than six-months after handing him the job.
In the process Slade became the seventh manager to be sacked by the club's controversial Belgian owner, Roland Duchatelet, who has reportedly not seen a live Addicks game in a staggering two years.
In an interview with talkSPORT the heavily criticised Belgian angered furious fans further after stating that the continued protests lack reason.
The fact of the matter is that the League One side are now searching for their eighth, yes eighth, gaffer since Duchatelet took over the club back in 2014.
It's the former Southampton and Sheffield Unted boss Adkins who leads the way at the moment, followed by Caldwell, Chris O'Loughlin, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Johnnie Jackson.
