John Askey remains the favourite for Wrexham jobby Jack Kitson / 19 October 2016, 11:45
Macclesfield Town manager John Askey remains the odds-on 1/3 favourite (Bet Victor) to switch dugouts over to National League rivals Wrexham.
Askey has expressed his interested in the post, which was vacated last week by Gary Mills after the Welsh outfit sent him packing, with Mills then proceeding to make an instant return to former club York City.
Askey, 51, is currently under contract with Macclesfield but admitted that if Wrexham came calling it would be tough to turn the club down.
Askey returned to manage Macclesfield for a second spell in June 2013, and under limited funds has done a decent job, with the Silkmen currently up in 5th - just five points off the summit - following a decent start to the season.
Meanwhile, struggling Wrexham are nine points worse off down in 15th, while last night (Tuesday) under the interim management team of Dean Keates, Joey Jones and Andy Davies they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Stamford, losing 3-2 in extra-time.
Other names in the betting include Craig Harrison (6/1), and Jim Harvey (12/1), while Tony Mowbray, who recently left Coventry City, is a surprise inclusion at 10/1.
