Brendan Rodgers reinstalled as the frontrunner for the sackby Andy Dillon / 01 July 2015, 11:39Tweet
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been reinstalled as the favourite in the Premier League Sack Race following Leicester City's surprise decision to axe Nigel Pearson. Pearson emerged as the frontrunner in the betting last week, although no one would have predicted that the 51-year-old would be ruthlessly sent packing just days before the Foxes players were scheduled back for pre-season.
The latest top-flight managerial departure means that Rodgers returns to the summit of the betting at 7/2 with Sky Bet. Since surviving an end-of-season review the Ulsterman has wasted no time in bolstering his squad, through the arrivals of James Milner, Danny Ings, Adam Bogdan, Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino, while he is expected to add Bobby Adekanye and Nathaniel Clyne this week, whereas Christian Benteke is also a possibility.
Elsewhere Watford new boy Quique Sanchez Flores finds himself next in the running for the chop at 5/1, followed by Aston Villa gaffer Tim Sherwood at 7/1, and then Sunderland's Dick Advocaat at 8/1. Meanwhile, Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini will start the season under pressure following a barren 2014/15 campaign, meaning he could be worth keeping an eye on at 8/1.
