Frank de Boer's odds slashed after Crystal Palace reportedly offer him the jobby Jack Kitson / 22 June 2017, 13:45Tweet
Crystal Palace have reportedly offered Frank de Boer the job at Selhurst Park (The Sun).
The Eagles have been searching high and low for a new gaffer ever since Sam Allardyce vacated the post one month ago.
Sean Dyche, Mauricio Pellegrino, Roy Hodgson and Slavisa Jokanovic have all featured in the betting in the subsequent weeks, but now it looks like Palace have set their sights on De Boer, who is now as short as 1/10 to return to management.
Last summer De Boer was linked with both Everton and Southampton, but in the end ventured over to Italy in order to take charge of Inter Milan, however 85 days later he was given the boot, and has remained out in the wilderness since that sudden departure back in November.
In the last couple of weeks the former Ajax boss, who led the Dutch giants to four consecutive Eredivisie titles, has once again been linked with the Saints job, but rumours are now rife that he’s set to become the new manager of Palace.
If all goes to plan De Boer will become the club’s sixth boss since they returned to the Premier League in 2013, while he’ll be the third Eagles gaffer in seven months.
Palace kick-off the upcoming season at home to Premier League new boys Huddersfield on Saturday 12 August, which is followed by fixtures with Liverpool, Swansea, Burnley and Southampton.
