Alan Curbishley Leading The Ipswich Town Manager Market

Alan Curbishley has emerged as the early favourite in the Next Ipswich Town Manager betting market following the departure of under-fire boss Paul Jewell. Jewell has endured a torrid time in charge of The Tractor Boys and Tuesday night's cruel last minute defeat at home to Derby proved to be the final straw. He leaves the club rooted to the bottom of the Championship and without a win in 10 matches.

Curbishley has been out of the management arena since leaving West Ham back in 2008. He is continuously being linked with vacancies when they arise but has so far remained happy in his job as a TV pundit. However, he may decide that this is the time to make his long overdue comeback.

The odds are likely to fluctuate over the next couple of days but as things stand the likes of Owen Coyle, Billy Davies, Mick McCarthy, Gordan Strachan and Harry Redknapp feature in the betting. Redknapp is a surprise name on the list but is unlikely to be a serious contender as he has ambitions of returning to a top flight club, not a team struggling at the foot of the Championship.
