Roberto Mancini has had his odds slashed in the Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked market following Manchester City's disappointing displays in the Champions League. The defending Premier League champions have picked up just one point from their opening three matches in Europe, with Mancini admitting they now need a 'miracle' to progress. The Italian is now the third favourite for the chop, behind Mark Hughes and Nigel Adkins, with his odds cut from a distant 50/1 to a dangerous 12/1.
City were desperate to make an impact in Europe this season but it now seems as though their dreams of Champions League glory have been dashed. The Manchester club struggled to adapt to Mancini's tactics during their 3-1 defeat to Ajax on Wednesday, with the defence visibly uncomfortable with the switch to three at the back. City now realistically need to win all three of their remaining Group D fixtures but this may still not be enough, as they found out last season when they were dumped out at the group stage despite accumulating 10 points.
This weekend their attention will turn back to the Premier League when they face Swansea at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday evening. City have been installed as the hot 2/9 favourites with Paddy Power to win their fourth consecutive league match, while Swansea have been handed long odds of 12/1.
