AFC Wimbledon’s search for a new manager is now in full flow. The club are interviewing various managers throughout the week with the hope of whittling down the number of candidates to three by the weekend. Former Rotherham and Brentford boss Andy Scott has emerged as the hot favourite in the Next AFC Wimbledon Manager Odds market, with other managers in contention including Lawrie Sanchez, Brian Reid, Dennis Wise and Sean Dyche.
The Dons sacked Terry Brown last week following a poor start to the season, with the club losing five of their opening seven League Two matches. On the pitch the players responded to Brown's departure by collecting all three points away to Wycombe Wanderers at the weekend, as they moved up to 20th in the table. The win will no doubt have boosted caretaker manager Simon Bassey's chances of getting the job. Bassey is reportedly interested in replacing Brown at the helm on a permanent basis but whether he can fend off competition from the likes of Scott, Wise and Sanchez remains to be seen.
The club are next in action on Saturday at home to Accrington Stanley, in which they are the 6/4 favourites with Paddy Power to win their second match on the spin. Meanwhile sixth-placed Accrington have been priced at 13/8, with a draw available at 23/10.
