Peter Taylor In Frame For Blackburn Rovers Jobby Jack Kitson / 02 January 2013, 11:00
Blackburn Rovers' search for a new manager is starting to really hot up, with Peter Taylor now the narrow favourite in the betting. Last week the Championship club sacked Henning Berg after just 57 days in charge after the former Rovers player managed just one win from 10 matches. They have since been on a two game winning streak under caretaker boss Gary Bowyer, who remains in contention to take the job on a permanent basis.
The experienced Taylor has previously been in charge of the likes of Leicester City, Hull City, England Under-21s and most recently the Bahrain national team. He has been out-of-work since October 2012 after he was saced after Bahrain's 6-2 defeat to United Arab Emirates, but he could now be in-line for a surprise appointment at Rovers.
Alongside Taylor and Bowyer are the likes of Kevin MacDonald, Billy Davies and the relatively unknown former India Under-15 coach Judan Ali who all feature in the Next Blackburn Rovers Manager Betting. Rovers’ global adviser, Shebby Singh, is now reported to be keen to appoint one of the listed managers at the helm ASAP in order to kick-start the club's season and get them back fighting it out for promotion.
Rovers are currently 13th in the league but back-to-back victories means they are now just five points adrift off the play-offs. On Saturday they are in action in the FA Cup as they take on fellow Championship side Bristol City at Ewood Park in the third round. Paddy Power have installed the hosts as the odds-on 8/11 favourites for the win, while City can be backed at 4/1.
