Paul Clement odds-on favourite for Swansea City jobby Andy Dillon / 30 December 2016, 12:25Tweet
Paul Clement has emerged as the odds-on favourite to return to management with Swansea City.
The Bayern Munich assistant, a 33/1 shot two days ago, has been propelled to the summit of the market, leaping above the likes of Harry Redknapp, Gary Rowett, Chris Coleman and Ryan Giggs, with the latter two now reportedly ruled out of contention for the post.
The mumbles are lovely but my husband has said publically after Wales we would hopefully move abroad - but good luck to Swansea ! https://t.co/MZoa5kcC9d— Charlotte Coleman (@CharLouJackson) December 29, 2016
Clement has only had one spell as an outright manager - a brief 8 month stint in charge of Derby last season - but he has a wealth of experience as an assistant to Carlo Ancelotti at some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, and currently Bayern Munich.
Clement will feel hard done by Derby's decision to sack him considering that the Rams had won 14, and lost just 7, of his 33 games at the helm, with the club up in 5th place in the Championship when he was abruptly axed.
Since June the 44-year-old has been working under Ancelotti at German giants Bayern who are leading the Bundesliga with 39 points from 16 matches.
However, according to reports Clement could well be on the cusp of return to the managerial arena with Swansea, who sacked Bob Bradly earlier in the week after just 11 matches at the helm.
The struggling Swansea are currently down in 19th, four points adrift of safety.
Alan Curtis will oversee the club's clash at home to Bournemouth on Saturday.
