Henning Berg has emerged as the new favourite for the Blackburn Rovers job as the Lancashire club's search for a new manager takes yet another twist. The former title winning defender has leapt above the likes of Ian Holloway, Eric Black and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Next Blackburn Rovers Manager job, while former frontrunner Harry Redknapp has ruled himself out of the running.
Berg is a Rovers legend having been an integral clog in their 1994/1995 title winning side. The Norwegian enjoyed two stints at Ewood Park, winning the League Cup on his return in 2002. His first job in management came back in 2005 when he took charge of Norwegian side Lyn. In 2008 he became the new boss of Lillestrom but was sacked three years later following a torrid run of form. Berg has been out of work since but according to TV reports in his homeland he has been offered the job, however, nothing has yet been confirmed at Ewood Park.
If you're looking for an outside bet then Diego Maradona is your man. The legendary Argentinean emerged as a shock contender on Monday, with Blackburn's recruitment chief Shebby Singh believed to be keen on luring him to the club in what would be a stunning appointment. Maradona is currently out of work after leaving United Arab Emirates club Al Wasl back in July and at the time of writing he can be backed at 33/1 with Stan James.
