Harry Redknapp has been installed as the odds-on favourite in the Next England Manager Betting after being cleared of all tax evasion charges. The Tottenham boss has been the long standing frontrunner for the job which comes available when Fabio Capello's contract ends after this summer's European Championships. Redknapp has previously expressed his desire to manage his country one day and it may now become a reality.
For the last two weeks Redknapp has been in court facing charges of evading tax for which he has been found not guilty. The 64-year-old will now focus on continuing his fantastic season with Spurs. The North London club are currently third in the Premier League and challenging the Manchester clubs for the title. After Euro 2012 it will be decision time for the Football Assocation and, with near enough the whole country rooting for an Englishman, Redknapp is the stand-out candidate. With his reputation now intact he is the odds-on favourite with all bookmakers.
Meanwhile Fabio Capello is currently facing showdown talks with the FA concerning John Terry. Last week the FA stripped Terry of the England captaincy after it was announced that his trial for allegedly racially abusing QPR defender Anton Ferdinand would not be until after Euro 2012 (9th July). Capello reacted angrily to the news and publicly disagreed with the decision on Italian TV as he believes his player is innocent until proven guilty. The outcome of the talks will be very interesting as there has been a whirlwind of speculation that Capello's future with England is in doubt.
