Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has reportedly expressed his interest in the England job if he was to be approached after Euro 2012. The 64-year-old would no doubt be a popular choice and he believes the opportunity to manage his country would simply be too good to turn down. Next summer England will only be two years away from World Cup 2014, and many believe that Redknapp would be the perfect manager to breathe life into England’s under-performing players. The bookmakers certainly think he is the man for the job as he is currently the hot favourite in the Next England Manager Betting, with odds of 5/6.

Redknapp has impressed since his arrival at Tottenham, leading them to 4th in the Premier League in 2010 and then taking them through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League in the club’s debut season in the competition. There have been recent murmurings that that the Football Association are considering replacing Fabio Capello before Euro 2012, but in all likeliness he will depart when his contract comes to an end after the tournament. What is certain is that the Italian has endured a difficult reign as England manager since his appointment back in December 2007. Despite an excellent World Cup 2010 qualifying campaign England faulted when it really mattered and were abysmal in the big tournament in South Africa. The Three Lions have since been solid without setting the world alight in their Euro 2012 qualifying campaign meaning there are still doubts whether Capello should be in charge for Euro 2012.

For the time being England’s main focus is cementing their qualification to Euro 2012. They travel to Montenegro on Friday 7th October and must return with at least a point to seal their passage through to the Finals next summer. You can currently find England with odds of 8/1 with Paddy Power to win Euro 2012.

Tony Cottee recently became the latest in a long line of people to vent their frustration at England manager Fabio Capello. Capello is due to step down as England boss at the end of the 2012 European Championship next summer but, after England narrowly scraped past Wales on Tuesday night, there have been calls for the FA to act now and axe the Italian, in order to avoid a repeat of last year’s dismal World Cup showing at the upcoming Euro 2012.

Capello has long been criticised for his team selection, negative strategy and static formation choices, along with the drab, lacklustre football that England fans have grown accustomed to. However, it is very unlikely that the FA will choose to get rid of him before the European Championships next summer. England may not have set the world alight in qualifying but they are on the verge of booking their plane tickets after the win against Wales extended their lead at the top of Group G to six points. The Three Lions now only need to come away from Montenegro on October 7th with a draw to secure their passage through. If England do progress then Capello will be tasked with erasing the bitter memories of the World Cup and prove to the nation that he has learnt from his mistakes in South Africa. When Capello does leave, he will open up one of the biggest, and high-pressured, jobs in football. The question is, who has the guts to step up to the plate and breathe some fresh life into a stagnant set-up?

Harry Redknapp is currently the overwhelming 11/8 favourite with Paddy Power in the Next England Manager Betting. The Tottenham Hotspur manager employs attractive, entertaining and attacking football and would certainly be a popular choice among fans. Martin O’Neill and Roy Hodgson are both priced at 7/1, while the England Under-21 manager Stuart Price has odds of 9/1, although his time will probably not come for a few years yet. David Beckham is available at a surprise 14/1 to get the job.

The World Cup is just a few days old and there have been a number of high profile incidents on the pitch but after all theses years Diego Maradona is still managing to steal the limelight, in his day he was quite simply a genius on with the football but few would have picked him as a future Manager of the National team. The Argentinians struggled through qualification with Maradona taking over half way through but they have arrived in South Africa with a real chance of picking up the trophy. They are already off to a winning start after they defeated Nigeria 1-0 with the team playing some good attacking football, all the while Maradona was stood on the touchline prowling like a lion and and waving his arms frantically.

All the indications are that Maradona is not your average Football Manager in South Africa this Summer, he is there to inspire the players rather than coach them but if he can lead Argentina to World Cup glory his status as a God in the Country will rise even further. He is the focus if the cameras wherever he goes which may work in the favour of the players with the pressure deflected to the Manager, this should allow the likes of Messi, Tevez, Higuain ans Di Maria to weave their magic which always proves easy on the eye for the fans and punters. There is no doubting that Argentina have a squad capable of going all the way with the likes of Diego Milito and Sergio Aguero so far unable to even get in the first 11 which highlights the strength and depth which they have.

Maradona will know that his team have enough fire power up front but he will also know that keeping them out at the other end might prove considerably more difficult, they play four centre-halves meaning they can be a little susceptible to pacy wingers which they are sure to come up against at some point in South Africa. It may be that Argentina go in with a ‘we can score more goals than you’ attitude and if Lionel Messi performs to the best of his ability they will prove extremely hard to resist for punters in the World Cup Betting. If Maradona can inspire the team to glory over the next month the little magician may be about to write yet another glorious chapter in a career of incredible highs and deep lows.

After months and months of preparations the time has finally come with England due to play the USA in Rustenburg on Saturday Night, the 2010 World Cup is finally here and all the pressure is on Fabio Capello as he looks to guide England to a successful tournament. For all the success the Italian has had as a Club Manager this is his first experience of a World Cup and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to the situation, he has shown one or two signs of pressure in the last few days but he will need to show a cool head if England are to claim the three points against a tough looking USA side.

Capello has been in the full glare of the media spotlight since the England team arrived in South Africa and the first cracks started to appear on Wednesday when he had a very public spat with a group of photographers, Capello felt that the snappers should not be trying to picture the players in the changing room and made his feelings perfectly clear. Some are suggesting that it showed the pressure mounting on the Italian ahead of the first game in Group C, that will all be forgotten though if England can take three points against the USA before taking on Algeria in the second game.

The USA will be a difficult match for England leaving Capello with some tough decisions on his hands as he looks to pick the correct formula for the starting line-up, we know that Gareth Barry will miss the game through injury meaning the midfield will need a rejig for the match. It will be interesting to see where Steven Gerrard will play with Capello deciding whether to play him off of Wayne Rooney or back in midfield with Frank Lampard, the other selection quandary is the goalkeeping position with David James, Rob Green and Joe Hart all with realistic chances to start the first game. These are the sort of calls and decisions that could well decide how England do in South Africa and how successful an England Manager Fabio Capello will be remembered as going forward.

There had been speculation that Capello was wanted by Inter Milan to replace Jose Mourinho but the Italian has nipped it in the bud by signing a new contract with England, he is now committed to the FA until after Euro 2012 at which time he is likely to call it a day as a Manager. It was important that Capello signed the new deal to leave the focus on this World Cup rather than whether or not he would remain in the job after the tournament, his future will also depend on how the team perform in South Africa with the Semi-Finals a minimum target for the team. England have reached the quarter-finals for the past two tournaments meaning that Capello will need to improve on that performance if he is to be considered a success in the job, Good Luck Fabio!

Sven Goran Eriksson has left his job at Notts County after the club were taken over yesterday meaning that the former England Coach is back on the market and eyeing up a job at this Summers World Cup in South Africa, Eriksson has been in his role as Director of Football at Meadow Lane since the start of the season but with a new owner on board he has decided to call it quits at the League Two club. County have been taken over by the former Lincoln Owner Ray Trew for the princely sum of £1 from Peter Trembling who had been a strong ally of the Swede, Trew knows he will have to clear the clubs spiralling debt as part of the deal which runs into millions of pounds.

While Sven has agreed to take a non-active role as joint life President at Notts County he is now free to resume his Managerial career and will not be short of options, within hours of his departure from County he was already being linked to the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are looking for a new Manager following a poor African Cup of Nations. Several names are being linked with this post besides Sven and they include the likes of Guus Hiddink and Giovani Trapattoni but the Eriksson link seems to have the most substance at this stage, the Swede led England to two World Cup Quarter-Finals in 2002 and 2006 and may want another crack at the worlds biggest tournament this Summer.

As well as Nigeria there are some reports surfacing that North Korea may be looking for a high profile Manager to lead them at their first World Cup since 1966 and Sven is the man they want, it seems an unlikely job for such a big name but if the price is right then it should not be ruled out at this stage. There has to be some doubt as to whether Eriksson will be looking to go back into International Management having already had stints with England and Mexico, the Sack Race understands that the Swede is itching to get back involved in club football and more specifically the Premier League if he is given half a chance.

All the Premier League clubs and Managers will be aware of Sven who is now lurking dangerously in the background waiting to get on the merry-go-round once more, several sides are struggling at the bottom of the table with the likes of Sunderland, West Ham and Blackburn among others all likely to be getting twitchy about their league position. Eriksson is bound to want to get back in a Management role after his ill fated Director of Football role with County, Sven took the job in League Two when Munto Finance took over with visions of the Premier league but the dream quickly turned sour with the club amassing huge debts and are now on their third owner this season.

Will Terry be leading England in South Africa?

We are just a few months away from the opening game of England’s World Cup campaign against the USA in Rustenburg but Fabio Capello is already facing his first selection headache, its not whether or not David Beckham should be in the squad or whether Michael Owen has done enough to be on the plane as he was expecting it to be in the build up to South Africa. Of course the Italian is now faced with the tough decision over whether or not to keep John Terry as the Captain of the England Team in the light of recent allegations about an extra marital affair with the former girlfriend of Wayne Bridge.

Terry has been plastered all over the front and back of the tabloids for days now and there is no sign of the speculation dying down anytime soon, this has left Fabio Capello with a tough and perhaps crucial decision to make over his future. The FA have said that it is Capello’s decision as to what happens with Terry but they are also under pressure to act on the matter with public interest growing by the second, they and Capello will want to clear the whole mess up as quickly as possible with the World Cup looming an a friendly against Egypt on the horizon at the start of March.

The main issue surely lies in one question and that is; Have John Terry’s actions affected morale within the England Camp? There is no better man that Capello to answer that question and it is almost impossible to form an opinion on that unless speaking to other squad members as well as the coaching staff which Capello is bound to do. Capello has been a strong disciplinarian since taking th England job and that is not a good sign for JT, Capello may well want to show a sign of force and that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated by any member of the squad in a World Cup year. Having said that, Capello thought Terry was the man for the job when he took over and he may want to back his man all the way in the hope that the whole mess will blow over in a couple of weeks, that of course is a huge risk if their is discontent within the ranks as being reported.

Only Capello will know if he was going to select Bridge as the second left-back in the World Cup squad and that will now need careful consideration, if Terry and Bridge do play together in an England shirt then the press interest will be huge every time they pass the ball to each other. It will be a big shame if Wayne Bridge retires from England duty as a result of this scandal as is being reported, but with the World Cup just around the corner but there may be no other option for the former Chelsea player who has said he will not be commenting on the scandal at any stage. There are several names in the frame to replace John Terry in the Next England Captain Betting with Steven Gerrard the obvious choice to replace him, Rio Ferdinand is another choice but has proven injury prone this season, an interesting outside bet would be Wayne Rooney who is in great form and may relish the chance to lead the side.

Wayne Bridge is a well liked player by all accounts and if senior England players are upset with John Terry then Capello will have no choice but to strip the Chelsea Captain of the national armband, Capello is set to make his decision in the next few days and the Sack Race like all England fans will be watching the story with interest. This could well be the biggest moment in the England career of Fabio Capello, the wrong decision from the Gaffer here and the World Cup hopes of a nation could go down the drain.
