Can Roman Abramovich Lure Pep Guardiola To Chelsea?

With Pep Guardiola set to leave Barcelona at the end of the season rumours are rife that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will whip out his chequebook in an audacious attempt to lure the Spaniard to Stamford Bridge. The hugely successful manager will today officially announce his decision to take a break from football in a news conference, much to the disappointment of Catalan players and supporters. On Thursday Guardiola held talks with Barcelona president Sandro Rossell - who was understandably willing to give the popular coach anything he wanted to stay - but his mind is firmly set on stepping down and recharging his batteries.

Guardiola’s decision comes after a difficult week for Barcelona, where they lost at home to fierce rivals Real Madrid, which effectively cost them the La Liga title, and then failed to beat 10-man Chelsea in the Champions League. However, the fact remains that he is the most successful manager in the club's illustrious history, winning a staggering 13 trophies in just four years in charge. His trophy cabinet includes two Champions League crowns, three La Liga trophies, one Copa del Rey, three Supercopas, two Uefa Super Cups and two Fifa Club World Cups. He can extend this tally to 14 on May 25th when Barcelona lock horns with Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey Final.

Despite stating his intentions to have a break from football Guardiola will now inevitably be linked with a move to the Premier League, with the news unlikely to prevent Abramovich from attempting to persuade him to come to West London. The Russian billionaire is a huge admirer of the 41-year-old and is reportedly set to offer him a sensational deal to become the Next Chelsea Manager.
