Didier Deschamps has emerged as the hot favourite to replace Laurent Blanc as France manager after leaving Ligue 1 side Marseille. Deschamps’ decision to leave the club comes just days after it was revealed that Blanc had stepped down as France boss, thus fuelling reports that he is set to become the new manager of Les Bleus. The 43-year-old is currently the 8/11 frontrunner with Paddy Power in the Next France Manager Market, with Luis Fernandez available at 13/2. Meanwhile Arsene Wenger has ruled himself out of the running.
France had high hopes going into this summer’s European Championships but their quest for glory ultimately ended in disappointing fashion, with reports of infighting between players affecting their preparations to their quarter-final defeat to eventual champions Spain. However, Blanc can be satisfied with what he has achieved at the helm, especially the impressive 23-match unbeaten run he took his side on.
