Will big Sam bounce back into management with Burnley?

Relegation into the Championship after having a year or two in the Premier League is never an easy thing to take for fans and players alike and both are keen to return to the top flight as soon as possible. However this is not always so easy as teams like Coventry City have found out since they were relegated back in 2001 and have since failed to even make the play offs.  If instant success is not happening then it is often the manager that is the first to go and The Clarets are no exception after Brian Laws was removed from his post after being in charge at Turf Moor for less than a year after his team suffered a dip in form and slid to the 9th in the Npower Championship.

Of the managers in the frame to take on the role Sam Allardyce who was recently removed as manager of Blackburn may fancy a return to Championship life and relish the opportunity of taking a side up this season.

Burnley were promoted to the Premier League in May 2009 following their win in the Play-Off Final to complete a dream season for the Lancashire based club managed then by Owen Coyle. However after after 6 months into a new contract Coyle left the side to join Premier League rivals Bolton Wanderers and was replaced by Brian Law who failed to keep his side in the top flight of English Football and they were relegation to the Npower Championship for the 2010/11 season.

Burnely seem to have a solid and stable boardroom currently and they are not normally a club to make knee jerk reactions on the spur of the moment so are likely to back the Manger both financially and in terms of time to let the team settle into the Premier League.

Manager History

Recent history shows that Burnley are more than happy to stick with their Managers and allow them time however with the side now in the Premier League the pressure will be cranked up a notch for Coyle. Stan Ternant was in charge for a good six years and Coyle will be hoping he last that long in the job unless he is tempted by a bigger club.
