Time at Club:
Cambridge United was managed by Shaun Derry who had been at the helm since November 2015. Under Derry the club have finished 9th and 11th, and were no doubt targeting a push for promotion but a run of 5 games without a win (and just 3 wins from last 16) was too much and the services of Derry were dispensed with.

Following their relegation from League Two in 2005 Cambridge spent nine years out of the Football League. However, they finally returned to the fourth-tier in 2014 after winning promotion from the Conference Premier. The U's finished the 2013/14 campaign in second-place and they went on to win the play-offs after beating Gateshead 2-1 at Wembley. The club also won the FA Trophy after thrashing Gosport Borough in the Final.
A mixed set of recent results has seen Cambridge United collect wins versus Notts County, Grimsby Town and Chesterfield while suffering adverse results at Accrington Stanley, Yeovil Town, Coventry City and Forest Green. Draws against Lincoln City, Mansfield Town and Colchester United has seen them show mid-table form at best.
