Time at Club:
Gillingham named Justin Edinburgh as their new manager in February (2015), after the League One side agreed compensation with Newport County. Edinburgh and the Gills challenged for promotion during the 2015/16 season but fell short towards the end.
Established in 1893, Gillingham finally gained promotion into the Football Leage in 1920, but were voted out of the league after the 1937-1938 season, before gaining a path back into the football league when the amount of league clubs were extended from 88 to 92.
Since then Gillingham have been a recognised football league team for most of that time and even gained promotion to Division One through the play-offs in the 1999-2000 season.
The Gills have had several financial problems in the last decade with the ITV Digital breakdown and a brace of relegations not helping their state, but times now look rosier and they can now set their sights on returning to the higher echelons of the Football League under Edinburgh.
Numerous drawns but few defeats has seen Gillingham enjoy a strong run of results. Defeats against Oxford United and Fleetwood Town are the only black marks on a run that has seen them amass wins against Rochdale, Walsall, Northampton Town and while sharing the spoils versus Brackley Town, Brackley Town, Charlton Athletic and Walsall
