Time at Club:
Gillingham have appointed Steve Lovell as Ady Pennock's replacement in the dugout. Lovell won four of his seven games in caretaker charge, and was then rewarded with a deal until the end of the season.
Established in 1893, Gillingham finally gained promotion into the Football League in 1920, but were voted out of the league after the 1937-1938 season, before gaining a path back into the football league when the amount of league clubs were extended from 88 to 92.
Since then Gillingham have been a recognised football league team for most of that time and even gained promotion to Division One through the play-offs in the 1999-2000 season.
The Gills have had several financial problems in the last decade with the ITV Digital breakdown and a brace of relegations not helping their state, but times now look rosier and they can now set their sights on returning to the higher echelons of the Football League under Pennock.
Gillingham have reaped 5 wins in the last 10 games, beating Scunthorpe United, Rochdale, Charlton Athletic, Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers. 2 draws against AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United and defeats to Carlisle United, Plymouth Argyle and Oxford United has seen them score 19 at an average of 1.9 goals per game while shipping 14.
