Time at Club:
Gillingham appointed Adrian Pennock as Justin Edinburgh's replacement in January 2017. Edinburgh was sent packing after less than two years in charge after an inconsistent run of form, and now it's Pennock, a former Forest Green Rovers and Welling United manager, who is at the helm.
Established in 1893, Gillingham finally gained promotion into the Football League in 1920, but were voted out of the league after the 1937-1938 season, before gaining a path back into the football league when the amount of league clubs were extended from 88 to 92.
Since then Gillingham have been a recognised football league team for most of that time and even gained promotion to Division One through the play-offs in the 1999-2000 season.
The Gills have had several financial problems in the last decade with the ITV Digital breakdown and a brace of relegations not helping their state, but times now look rosier and they can now set their sights on returning to the higher echelons of the Football League under Pennock.
A mixed set of recent results has seen Gillingham collect wins versus Charlton Athletic and Southend United while suffering adverse results at Oxford United, Shrewsbury Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Bradford City and Reading. Draws against AFC Wimbledon, Southend United and Doncaster Rovers has seen them show mid-table form at best.
