Next Middlesbrough Manager Odds

Middlesbrough FC is owned by Steve Gibson and is currently in the Championships following relegation which was a battle that former Manager Gareth Southgate lost in May 2009. Southgate had been in charge at the Riverside Stadium since June 2006 taking over from Steve McLaren who left to become the Manager of the England National team. It is Gordon Strachan who is the new man in charge at the Riverside and he will be charged with leading Boro straight back to the Premier League at at the first time of asking.

Chairman Steve Gibson is widely considered to be one of the best Chairmen in the country as he always backs his Managers and gives them time to turn around the clubs fortunes, this was the reason that many were surprised when Southgate was given the elbow. Gibson said the team had been underperforming on the pitch through the start of the season which led to the Chairman worrying the side would not make it back to the top flight despite the team sitting 4th in the league table and in contention at the top of the Championship.

It could be an interesting season at the Riverside as Strachan has clearly been brought in to guarantee promotion back to the top flight which is something that Gibson clearly thought Southgate would not achieve.
