Motherwell have appointed Stephen Robinson until May 2018. Robinson replaced the sacked Mark McGhee.
Motherwell have just the one League title to their name and that came many many years ago back in 1932. Much to the fans despair there has in fact been no silverware at Fir Park since the Scottish Cup win of 1991, something the club will be desperate to change. They came agonisingly close to ending this barren spell last season when they reached the Scottish Cup Final, only to be comprehensively beaten by Celtic.
Following their tremendous season in 2007/08 when they finished in 3rd spot behind the Old Firm giants of Glasgow, the club have finished in the top seven three times. Although they have lost a place each year the club have played some entertaining football and in 2010 were involved in highest scoring match in SPL history, when they came back from four goals down to draw 6-6 with Hibernian.
A mixed set of recent results has seen Motherwell collect wins versus Aberdeen, Hearts and Dundee while suffering adverse results at Aberdeen, Hamilton Academical and Kilmarnock. Draws against Ross County, St Johnstone, Rangers and Celtic has seen them show mid-table form at best.
