Brian Laws is the manager of Scunthorpe United. Laws replaced the sacked Alan Knill back in October 2012 but suffered relegation down to League Two at the end of the season. The cost of relegation is set to cost the club in excess of £600,000.
Knill who took over in March 2011 but was unable to save Scunthorpe from relegation as they finished rock-bottom of the Championship. Last season In 2011/12 they were once again embroiled in a relegation scrap but managed to finish nine points clear of the drop zone.
Scunthorpe won promotion to the Championship under manager Nigel Adkins in 2009 after they beat Tranmere Rovers in the play-off final. Adkins then guided them to a 20th place finish before leaving to join Southampton in September 2010.
Ian Baraclough stepped up to the plate but was sacked in March 2011 with the team struggling towards the foot of the table. Alan Knill then joined the club from Bury but was unable to save them from relegation back down to League One. Expectations aren't high ahead of the upcoming season, with the club's main aim avoiding their second relegation in three years.
