Darren Way, Michael Flynn and Kevin Nolan bid to conjure up FA Cup fourth round giant killings
- 26th January 2018
The 2017/18 FA Cup fourth round draw may not have produced the most glamourous cluster of fixtures in the competition’s history, but there’s still a number of tasty manager mash-ups to look forward to this weekend.
Below we pluck out three League Two gaffers looking to conjure up their own magical moments against Premier League opposition .
Darren Way vs Jose Mourinho
Yeovil Odds: 30/1
Yeovil boss Darren Way pits his wits against birthday boy Jose Mourinho on Friday night at Huish Park, which the former describes as a “dream come true”. The history books state that it’s been a whopping 69 years since Yeovil progressed into the fifth round, and the club can be backed out at 30/1 to conjure up one of the biggest FA Cup giant killings in the history of the competition.
Way is planning to get Mourinho drunk by handing him a bottle of wine and a some strong Somerset cider, as he bids to follow in the footsteps of the club’s south west neighbours, Bristol City, who stunned United in the League Cup quarter-finals. On that occasion Lee Johnson famously splashed out on a £450 bottle of wine for the United boss.
Mourinho, who penned a new deal on Thursday, boasts a squad costing £588million, which includes new recruit Alexis Sanchez, a man he plans to unleash in Somerset tonight.
The match is Mourinho’s 100th at United, and he’ll be expected to mark that milestone with his 61st win at the club, although if he samples some of the Somerset cider before kick-off then he may wake up to the hangover from hell on Saturday morning...
