Nigel Adkins, Kenny Jackett and Justin Edinburgh feature in the next Northampton Town manager market

Nigel Adkins, Kenny Jackett and Justin Edinburgh are the three early names that feature in the betting to replace the sacked Rob Page at Northampton Town.

Page’s Cobblers story came to an end on Monday after less than eight months following a poor run of form, during which his side suffered 10 defeats in a dozen league and cup games, dropping the club down to 16th in the League One table.
It’s no surprise to see the bookmakers favourite Adkins (2/1) in the mix, with the former Southampton man linked with near enough every Football League vacancy that crops up, although the 51-year-old has remained in the wilderness since losing his job at Sheffield United back in May.
Jackett and Edinburgh are also no strangers to appearing in new manager markets following their respective departures from Rotherham and Gillingham, with both bosses currently priced at 5/1 in the betting.
Further afield you’ll find ex Hartlepool manager John Hughes, Darren Purse, who had a trial with the Cobblers back in 2013, and former Bury boss David Flitcroft.
Meanwhile, Paul Wilkinson (who has drifted out to 20/1) has been placed in caretaker charge of the first team while the club hunt for Page’s replacement, and with the betting pretty open at the moment, he’s likely to be the man in the dugout for Saturday’s clash at home to high-flying Scunthorpe.
