David O'Leary Odds On for Newcastle Job With Skybet

David O'Leary has been installed as the odds on favourite by Skybet in their Next Permanent Newcastle Manager market as the saga at St James Park continues into the new season with no end in sight. Owner Mike Ashley has been trying to flog the club for months now without luck and reports in Ireland are now saying that Ashley has decided to stay for the time being and install the Irishman as the new boss. O Leary has been out of work for a while now and may see St James Park as the ideal place to rebuild his reputation following a troubled end to his reign at Leeds United.

Alan Shearer remains in contention for the top job and he has been waiting in the wings since leaving the club at the end of last season waiting for Ashley to find a buyer. Shearer has made no secret of his desire to take full time charge at his club and the fans have made it clear they want their hero in charge for the Championship season. The news of O Leary may not prove too popular with fans on Tyneside as they have been hoping to see Shearer return to the hot seat.
