Ferguson Lined up for QPR Postby Mick Bates / 11 December 2009, 10:54Tweet
Sources close to The Sack Race have told us that Darren Ferguson is being lined up to be the Next QPR Manager if as expected Jim Magilton gets the sack from Loftus Road, QPR are currently carrying out an internal investigation into an alleged incident after QPR's loss to Watford on Monday night. It is understood that the former Peterborough Manager is heading up a short list of potential replacements and we reckon it could be the ideal job for Ferguson to make the next step in his blossoming career, he left London Road to the surprise of many and at this stage it appears that his reputation has not been tarnished.
It is also believed that Ferguson was approached about the QPR job in the summer before Magilton was appointed and the owners are now set to go back to the young Scot, he led Peterborough to two successive promotions going from League Two to the Championship and is being touted for a big career in the Premier League to follow in his fathers famous foot-steps.
There are other names being banded about for the Loftus Road job with the likes of former Pompey Manager Paul Hart being mentioned along with Gareth Southgate who is looking to get back in the game after being sacked from Middlesbrough in Octobor. If QPR are in need of a new Manager then they will not be sure of options as they are one of the richest clubs in the country with Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore bankrolling the team, they have become one of the most expensive squads in the Championship but with that comes pressure as their aim is Premier League football asap.
At the moment it will all depend on the outcome of the investigation that is going on within QPR and Jim Magilton over the alleged incident with player Akos Buzsacky, it is an incident that Magilton denies and the football world is watching QPR closely as we wait for the outcome as it could well alert a few top class Managers who waiting to pounce on the job at the first chance.
