Frank Lampard And Javi Gracia Slashed In Betting To Be First Premier League Manager Sacked After Dismal Weekend Results

Frank Lampard's reign at Chelsea couldn't have gone much worse, as the former Blues midfielder watched his side annihilated 4-0 by Manchester United at Old Trafford in his first Premier League match in charge on Sunday afternoon.

It was never going to be an easy start for Lampard, who joined from Derby County in the summer, but after Marcus Rashford's opening penalty gave United the lead, the Blues capitulated as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side scored another three goals to ease to an emphatic victory.

While Solskjaer's side got the Theatre of Dreams rocking, Lampard's Chelsea failed to rise to the big occasion, and while the Blues had lots of the ball during the 90 minutes, their failure to deliver end product ultimately wounded them, and they will now have to get themselves back up for Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup with Liverpool.

The bookmakers were quick to shorten Lampard in the first Premier League Manager To Be Sacked odds, as having started the weekend around the 20/1 mark, he is now a 10/1 shot with BetVictor to be given the axe.

Despite a 4-0 defeat, Chelsea fans still sang Lampard's name at the final whistle, but while that positivity towards a club legend will remain over the coming months, if the results don't improve then we all know the Blues board are more than happy to give manager's the boot, if they aren't performing.

Another manager that has been cut in the Premier League Sack Race odds is Javi Gracia, who saw his Watford side lose 3-0 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion, in arguably the biggest shock result of the opening weekend.

The Hornets were touted as potential European contenders this season, after a campaign last year under Gracia saw them reach the FA Cup final, but a torrid Saturday afternoon has seen Gracia's stewardship come into question, and having been 16/1 with BetVictor before Saturday's game, he can be backed at 11/1 with BetVictor for the first Premier League sacking.

While the odds on Lampard and Gracia have been trimmed, it's still Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is favourite for the chop first, as the 4/1 shot with BetVictor saw his Eagles side pick up a 0-0 draw with Everton at the weekend, where he started with wantaway attacking star Wilfried Zaha on the bench.

Hodgson elected to bring Zaha off the bench, as he searched for a winning goal, but his handling of the Premier League star may come into question, as some fans would've wanted him to leave for a big fee, while those who want him to stay will want him to start in all the games, as he is undoubtedly there most talented attacking threat.
