Everton Sack Roberto Martinez Following Dismal End To Season

Roberto Martiniez's time at Everton has come to an end following Everton's decision to sack the Spaniard following a run of just one win in their last ten games and a bottom half finish to the season guaranteed.
Despite reaching both domestic cup semi-finals, lack lustre defeats against Merseyside rivals Liverpool, Leicester and Sunderland really highlighted the problems on the pitch at Goodison Park.
Wednesday's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Sunderland summed up the Spaniards last few months at the helm and the writing had been on the wall.
Martinez joined Everton from Wigan in the summer of 2013, finishing fifth in his first season. Everton struggled last season finishing in eleventh place whilst this season is destined to finish around that position again.
With teams such as Tottenham and Liverpool strengthening and the likes of West Ham, Southampton and Stoke improving Everton are in real danger of losing ground with the top eight in the division so the owners have taken action to stop the rot.
