Paolo Wanchope has resigned from his post at Costa Rica following a bizarre brawl with a stadium security guard in Panama.
The former Derby and Manchester City hitman exploded into the spotlight on Wednesday after a remarkable video, which showed him embroiled in a ferocious fight with a steward, went viral (see below).
As a result the 39-year-old has decided to step aside from his position in charge of the Costa Rica national team, a role he had held since after the 2014 World Cup.
During his time at the helm of his county Wanchope led his troops to glory in the 2014 Copa Centroamericana after they came from behind to beat Guatemala 2-1 in the Final.
Derby Wonder Goal
Although he played for West Ham and Manchester City, he is best known for this goal against Manchester United, it is probably safe to say that Wanchope will never have to put his hand in his pocket whenever he goes out in Derby!
