Carlo Ancelotti Installed Favourite To Be Named Inter Miami Manager, But Could David Beckham Opt For An Old Teammate?by Steve Chambers / 13 August 2019, 09:11Tweet
David Beckham's American soccer status is already at an all-time high, but the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star is ready to unleash a new club in the Major League Soccer championships in 2020, and the excitement is building for Inter Miami's first competitive game in the MLS.
Beckham's involvement in building Inter Miami has catapulted him into the limelight across the pond, despite hanging up his playing boots a few years ago, and the former England captain is ready to try and take the American league by storm in what could ignite even more excitement in a country beginning to love soccer more and more by the day.
Speculation has now started with who Beckham and his Inter Miami associates will want as their manager, and bookmaker Paddy Power has opened a book on who will be named as the Inter Miami manager.
Unsurprisingly, with Beckham being a worldwide phenomenon in the world of football then there are some major names in the running according to the Irish bookmaker, and it's legendary manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has been named favourite for the coveted job.
Currently managing Napoli, Ancelotti has a wealth of managerial experience and could be lured away from the Serie A side for the MLS franchise, and he is the 13/8 favourite with Paddy Power.
Former Manchester United and Everton manager David Moyes is the 11/4 second favourite for the job, and having been out of work for a while the Scotsman would jump at the chance, and is reportedly been put on Beckham's shortlist. Discussing the possibility of being given the Inter Miami job, Moyes told TalkSPORT:
"Miami has got a bit of magic about it. Atlanta’s training centre is as good as anything in the Premier League and I know Miami are trying to do the same over there. The MLS is an exciting league. My preference would be to be back in the Premier League but if the opportunity came around, I would have to look at it."
Thierry Henry (5/1) was another superstar player to help grow the game in the US after he signed for the New York Red Bulls, but his managerial time at Monaco could hinder his chances, as he failed to bring any progression into the French side.
Another old AC Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has been priced up at 6/1, and he knows Beckham from his playing days at the Serie A heavyweights, and is currently on the lookout for a new job.
Away from the front few in the betting, Beckham's old Real Madrid teammate Zinedine Zidane (12/1) is priced up, but he is currently back managing the La Liga giants, so is unlikely, while a host of old Manchester United players are also linked with the job.
Gary Neville's managerial stock was battered when he failed to sparkle at Valencia, but Beckham's old United teammate and best friend is 20/1 with Paddy Power, while his brother Phil Neville, who is currently managing England Women's side is available at 33/1, with old United stalwarts Ryan Giggs (40/1) and Roy Keane (50/1) also being priced up, but you feel Beckham may opt to avoid teaming up with some of his old Old Trafford pals in favour of a proven manager.
