Big Sam The Bookies Favourite To Succeed Wagner At Huddersfield

Sam Allardyce has been installed the 2/1 favourite to replace David Wagner at the Kirklees Stadium.

The German departed the Terriers by mutiual consent on Monday afternoon, after seeing his side draw a blank away at Cardiff at the weekend, leaving Huddersfield eight points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League.

Allardyce, known as a bit of an escape artist from his time at the likes of Blackburn, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and to a lesser extent Everton, his last managerial job when he succeeded Ronald Koeman.

Ironically his first game in charge at Goodison was a 2-0 win over Huddersfield and if he's seriously the man that the club are going to turn to, this is surely his biggest challenge yet.

Also in the frame are Mark Hudson at 4/1, one of Wagner's coaches at Huddersfield, whilst at twice the price Slavisa Jokanavic is an 8/1 shot with Bet Victor.

From the list of those in the frame betting wise, Allardyce would seem the obvious choice given his experience of the Premier League.

The likes of Jokanovic and Carlos Carvalhal, who is a 10/1 shot with Paddy Power haven't managed many games in England's top flight, whilst it feels like aq big ask for the Huddersfield hierachy to reach out to 10/1 shot David Moyes, who looks like being the new Alan Curbishly at the Sackrace, linked to every job going!

New manager aside, it'll be a sad day for Terriers' fans with the man who led their team to former glory leaving. Wagner had a win rate of just over 33% with Town, enjoying a four year spell at the club and overseeing their return to England's top flight for the first time since 1972.

The German is already being linked with the Leicester City job with the bookies slicing his price to take over from under pressure Claude Puel who has been at the top of the next manager to leave betting for most of the season.
