Next Chelsea Manager: Antonio Conte in line for big payout, while Jorge Sampaoli is linkedby Jack Kitson / 14 June 2018, 09:02Tweet
If Chelsea want to make a managerial change this summer they will have to shed out a whopping £9 million in compensation to boss Antonio Conte.
The likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG and Borussia Dortmund have now sorted out their own dugout dilemas, yet Chelsea’s manager saga remains on-going.
Conte was linked hotly with the likes of PSG and Real Madrid, but with no high-profile vacancies currently up for grabs, there’s absolutely no chance he’ll walk away voluntarily.
This means that Chelsea will have to splash the cash if they want to bring in a new face.
The only other option is to let Conte see out the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. Although it’s worth noting that the last Blues boss to remain at the helm for three full seasons was Jose Mourinho back between 2004 to 2007.
Should Conte be axed, this will subsequently open up the door for Maurizio Sarri, however he will also cost Chelsea.
The Italian, who is still contracted to Napoli, remains the odds-on favourite in the Next Chelsea Manager Market, while Laurent Blanc is believed to be the back-up option should the club’s pursuit of Sarri falter.
According to Italian sources Napoli will settle for a price in the region of £3.5m to £4.5m for Sarri, who was recently replaced by Carlo Ancelotti, however such is the way over in Italy that he remains under contract for two more years.
Meanwhile, Argentina manager Jorge Sampaoli is the latest to be linked with Chelsea, although he’s out at 25/1 in the betting. The Argentine is currently bidding to lead his country to World Cup glory, meaning the Blues will have to play the waiting game if they want him over at Stamford Bridge next season.
