Ronald Koeman's Sack Race odds tumble after reports link the Dutchman with the Netherlands jobby Jack Kitson / 14 October 2015, 14:07Tweet
Southampton supporters are hiding behind their desks/sofas this afternoon after bookmakers slashed Ronald Koeman's odds in the Next Premier League Manager To Leave Market.
Prior to the international break the popular Dutchman was a staggering 100/1 long shot (Paddy Power) to be the next top-flight boss to depart. However, Holland's dismal failure to even clinch a play-off spot for next summer's European Championships, leaves their current boss, Danny Blind, under immense pressure.
Koeman has inevitably been linked with the Holland job, resulting in bookmakers slashing his Sack Race odds down to as low as 6/1 (Bet Victor), much to the despair of Saints fans.
Of course, a sudden switch is very unlikely, given the superb journey Koeman is on with the Saints, whereas Holland are currently rock-bottom at the moment, and without a competitive fixture until the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign kicks-off next September.
Koeman has enjoyed a cracking time on the south coast since replacing Mauricio Pochettino during the summer of 2014. On arrival the former Feyenoord gaffer had to deal with a flurry of big name departures, but kept his cool, luring in some hidden gems in the transfer market, before leading the Hampshire club to their highest ever Premier League finish (7th) - and into the Europa League - with a record points haul.
The Saints will be hoping that the rumours rapidly disolve, however should Blind be given the boot, then the club may have to brace itself for an unwanted approach from the Dutch FA.
