Malky Mackay favourite for Southampton job

Former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has been installed as the 6/1 favourite with Stan James in the Next Southampton Manager Market. The south coast side have dominated Wednesday’s headlines following the reported resignation of executive chairman Nicola Cortese, which has subsequently thrown the future of Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino into doubt.
The Argentine’s close ties with Cortese has led to speculation that he may also be on his way out of St Mary’s. The speculation has forced bookmakers to severely slash Pochettino's odds from an overwhelming 100/1 long shot to the short-priced favourite in the Premier League Sack Race, much to the despair of Saints supporters, who have been left shell-shocked by the rumours.
The popular boss stated back in May that would definitely leave the club if Cortese departed, which is something fans will need no reminding off. Other names that feature in the betting market include Roberto Di Matteo, Thomas Schaaf, Paul Clement and Andres Villas-Boas. Meanwhile former managers Glenn Hoddle and Harry Redknapp are priced at 16/1 and 20/1 respectively.
