Paul Hart Set To Become New Hull City Manager

Mick Bates by Mick Bates / 15 June 2010, 10:19

Paul Hart has been on a tour of the Championship over the last year and he looks set to make another stop with reports suggesting he is set to be announced as the New Manager of Hull City within the next few days, Hart has Managed Portsmouth, QPR and Crystal Palace in less than 12 months but that doesn't appear to have put the Tigers off of appointing him. Hull are looking for a new Manager after being relegated from the Premier League last season and finally agreeing to part ways with Phil Brown who had been put on Garden Leave, Iain Dowie was placed in temporary charge but he was unable to keep them up meaning he will not return to the job next season.

It is no secret that Hull are in financial difficulties so Hart will not have it easy should he be installed at the KC Stadium, the wage bill is set to be slashed as they readjust to life in the Championship, the board at Hull believe that Hart is the ideal man to steady the ship but the Hull fans may not be quite so quick to agree with the decision. Hart has hardly been a roaring success over the past year, he struggled at Portsmouth before having a short lived spell at QPR at the turn of the year, he then followed that up by keeping Crystal Palace in the Championship by the skin of his teeth.

The Sack Race does understand that Dave Jones was the first choice for Hull but they have been put off by the costly compensation they would have to pay out to Cardiff making Paul Hart the no.1 target for the Tigers. Hull and any new Manager may well struggle to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking with most of the first team squad set to be heading for the exit door to balance the books. Hart will feel though that the club has the infrastructure of big club with a top Stadium and fan base all geared towards to Premier League football, he will need to show that the club is heading back to the top flight with surely a place in the play-offs next season set to be the minimum aim for Hull.
