Malaga confirm Manuel Pellegrini can leaveby Jack Kitson / 15 May 2013, 11:29Tweet
Malaga have confirmed that manager Manuel Pellegrini is free to leave the club at the end of the season. The news will only fuel speculation that the Chilean is set to take charge of managerless Manchester City, who sacked boss Roberto Mancini on Tuesday. The former Real Madrid boss is now as short as 1/10 with Sky Bet in the Next Man City Manager Market.
Pellegrini has worked wonders at current club Malaga. Last season he led them into the Champions League for the first time in their history, before impressively guiding them through to the quarter-finals, where they were only denied by a stunning Borussia Dortmund late show. However, the man dubbed “The Engineer” now looks to be parting ways with the club who are facing a European ban (when they next qualify for a minimum of one season) due to financial problems.
It is surely now only a matter of time before the Manchester club formally approach Malaga and proceed to install Pellegrini in the Etihad hot-seat. A Malaga newspaper has already reported that Pellegrini has already agreed a two-year deal with City, although neither club has yet to confirm any negotiations.
