Roberto Martinez to Everton odds shorten

Roberto Martinez's odds have shortened slightly from 3/1 to 15/8 (Sky Bet) in the Next Everton Manager Market following Wigan's relegation from the Premier League. On Tuesday the Latics fell to a 4-1 defeat to top-four chasing Arsenal which confirmed their drop down to the Championship after eight seasons in the top-flight. The Spaniard’s future will continue to be the talk of intense speculation, although Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has insisted that the Toffees have yet to make an approach.
Within the space of 72 hours Wigan had gone from the ecstatic high of FA Cup glory to the devastating low of relegation, as they became the first club to win the competition and then suffer the dreaded drop in the same season. Over the years the Latics had become survival specialists, with last season's great escape hailed as one of the greatest ever after Martinez's men stormed to seven wins from their final nine games.
Everton have so far remained silent on who will replace David Moyes at Goodison Park. Alongside the favourite Martinez other contenders include Gus Poyet whose Brighton side recently lost out in the play-off semi-finals to rivals Crystal Palace. Elsewhere Celtic boss Neil Lennon remains in contention, with Alan Stubbs and Phil Neville also featuring.
